Partnering for inclusive economic growthWe work with our partners to contribute to the communities’ economic and social development. Our programs are focused on education and capacity building, while ensuring diversity, equality and cultural preservation.
The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a global crisis and heavily impacted the economies and quality of life in rural communities. That is why, together with the community, we reenergized the local through a micro-entrepreneurship program that promoted innovation, community work, and local sustainable trade.
The AES Woman Scholarship is unique in the energy sector. It aims to facilitate the academic training of women in different disciplines that will allow them to develop and promote their professional career in the sector.
With the aim of being close, and offering a look at power generation as a professional option, with our visiting programs and university talks we have projected AES México to professional level students.
We continually reaffirm our commitment to gender equality and our effort to promote the inclusion of more women in the energy sector.
The committees seek to be a node of interaction between the community to establish priority needs, initiatives and projects to work together.
We have established the Llera de Canales Entrepreneurs Network to facilitate networking among participants, develop new business opportunities, connect entrepreneurs with local mentors and develop various capacities that will allow them to improve their business.
We launched an internal campaign where AES people could submit organizations, projects and initiatives that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion across Mexico. Submission could be voted and the top three candidates with the votes, where supported for a partnership.
We promote the empowerment of girls and young people in our neighboring communities. In support of this, we organized Gender and Energy workshops at K-12 schools in Mesa La Paz. The interactive workshops included discussions, art activities and a time of reflection about the issue.
